Purpose and Principle Responsibilities

Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within the engineering department. Assists with strategic planning, product design, quality assurance and problem resolution.

Essential Duties

  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
  • Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Recommends methods, materials and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.
  • Builds, develops and manages engineering team capable of carrying out needed engineering initiatives.
  • Manages product design from design to execution.
  • Manages and builds current bill of materials (BOM).
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Ensures current and accurate costing; manages engineering budget.
  • Some travel required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Competencies

  • BS in Engineering and 7 years experience.
  • Technical skills in engineering management, quality assurance and costing.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven team leadership skills; ability to effectively influence and motivate others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Committed to team work, high performance standards and company values.
  • Candidate must meet Export control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee or asylee.
